    W98 installation requirements

I want to install Windows 98 on an old 486. Is there any way around the requirements of a 66MHz processor and 16 meg ram, short of upgrading? Thanks.

That would be a total waste of your time. It'll take a few minutes just to boot, if it will boot. Try Windows for Workgroups 3.11 instead.

The Win9x series are resource hogs extraordinaire so that "minmum" requirements business should be taken with a brick of salt.

win95 will also install on that machine - i have it installed on a similar comp, and it runs just fine, and does not take forever to boot up or anything. plus, win95 is a lot better than win 3.1 - yuck!

I bit the bullet and found a copy of W95 for it. Believe it or not it actually runs better than W3.11 did. Multitasking is definitely out of the question though... Thanks guys.
