    What is FastFind?

What actually is Microsoft's FastFind and is it better to have it running or not. Just wondering if it is helpful or actually degrades performance.

It is an MS Office APP that catalogs the entire PC's hard drive in hopes of speeding up access for Office Documents and such. It does a full catalog after 30 minutes of PC running time. This usually takes from 1-4 minutes and your PC will slow to a crawl during it. After that, on a preset interval, it will perform another catalog. The default is 2 to 4 hours later.

I have seen nothing good out of using the feature. I have reduced many complaints of lockups at work simply by turning it off from control panel. I recommend not using it.

    Findfast and OSA are useless
The 1st thing I do after installing Office is to remove the shortcut from the startup, delete the indexes and stop Findfast...
