win95c and directx 7

when i try to install dx7 i get the msg " directx does not install on curent operating system " i closed all programs except systray and explorer. i have plenty of room for the install, and dx 6.1 is installed and running fine. any help would be great. no one seems to have an ansewer. i have seen other posts about win95 c 2.5 oem and directx install probs.

i think it is win 98 only

i installed it on win 98 and it works

It rocks on 98SE! Hardware T&L on D3D.... almost as pretty as OpenGL and faster than the same card running OpenGL.

Make sure you got the Win95 version of DX7. I have installed it on my Win95 box, and it worked fine. I do remember when I D/L'd it from Microsoft that it asked for which OS you were running.

the microsoft site has only one version for win 95,98
