    1. What is the difference between Unix and Linux?

    There are lots of differences between unix and linux, but in general unix = $ linux = free. Linux was in a way derived from the unix operating system. It runs on many platforms such as pc, mac, sparc, and others. Unix is a more generalized term that includes operating systems such as ibm's aix, sun's solaris and others. Many of the commands between the two are similar. Unix was developed at Berkeley, and now there are many derivatives of it. Linux is Linus Torvalds "version" of unix that has evolved over the years to what it is now. I know that there is a lot more than this to them, but this is some quick info.
