Low resolution in Win NT
I recently installed Windows NT on a computer using a AGP Viper 770. The problem is that I don't get a lot of resolution the maximum resolution that I get is 800 by 600 in "true color." I followed the directions for the drivers' installation carefully. My computer is PIII with 128mb of ram. The monitor is only few weeks old, and it supports high resolutions and refresh rates. Any suggestions, comments will be
greatly appreciated.
Truly very yours,
Zobek

The resolution limit is not necessarily the limit of your monitor. It also depends on the amount of memory on your video card. Check the requirments & capabilities of your card to see if you need something else. You may be able to add more memory to the card.
Good luck!

Yep, i've had this problem from time to time, and I think it is usually a driver problem most of the time.
You may want to install the latest drivers for your video card.
Just a thought, could be something else too.

Thanks for your comments.
I was thinking that it might be a problem relating to the fact that is an AGP card since Win NT did not offer support for it until recently. I did not think that it was a problem with the memory on the card or the drivers because the card has 32mb of RAM, and I used the drives currently posted on Dimond's web site.

I have SP4 installed. I am going to install SP5 and reinstall the drives. Hopefully that will do the trick.
Thanks,

What NT service pack are you running? Most video drivers need at least sp3. I have used sp5 since it's been out, and it hasn't caused any problems, yet.

Installed SP5, rinstalled newest drivers. Didn't work.

SP5 and the newest drivers should have worked.
Sorry to ask this, considering you stated you followed the installation directions carefully, but have you been changing the video driver first to Standard VGA before installing the 770 drivers?
Also note, if NT asks for files off the original disk, you should insert the most recent Service Pack (the version your running) disk and get the files off of there. Or, reinstall the correct SP each time a file is gotten off the original disk to insure all the files are that of the updated SP version.
If you haven't tried installing the standard VGA drivers first, give that a try. Then from that mode run the 770 installation.
The only other thing I can think of is an update for the Video Bios. If Diamond doesn't have one, You can try updating the motherboard Bios to see if that helps.
For some reason NT is not able to read the supported resolutions and refresh rates off the 770 Bios and is reverting to the drivers standard safe refresh rates.
I don't know what else to say...
