    Adding HD partitions w/ FIPS

Has anyone had luck using a program called FIPS to add partitions to the HD? I don't want to reformat my entire disk to create a second partition. I also can't afford to spend $60 on Partition Magic. Is FIPS too risky to be used by a novice such as myself?
