Red Hat Linux 6.0, Is It Worth It???
I have an ASUS P5A, AMD K6-2 475Mhz, 128MB PC/100, Quantum Fireball CR 13GB, Voodoo3 3000, Sound Blaster Live! Value, GVC 56K Modem, Linksys EtherFast 10/100, and Hollywood Plus DVD Decoder. With my system configuration I am now wondering whether it would be worth trying Linux. I am currently running Win98, but if I install Linux I would like to be able to dual boot. I would also like to know if my network would still work having Linux on one computer and Win98 on the other??? I also want to be able to play games and use most of the applications that I can use in Win98. I would appreciate some input.

If you work in the computer industry, working with Linux now could mean a lot. Having experience setting up and working with Linux could be the difference between manning a help desk, or installing servers as a Network Administrator.
For a normal user, Linux is not going to fill all the roles you use Win98 for now. The software base is nearly there, but there is just no compelling reason to change, other than not shelling out a dime to the folks in Redmond.

Linux makes for a much better server than NT... It is much more stable and has a better ability to handle the requrements of a server....
