Win98 temp folder?
Is it possible to change the location of the Windows Temp folder, so I can have it on a bigger drive?
Thanks

put this line in your autoexec.bat:
SET TMP=C:\TEMP
where c:\temp you can change to whereever you want...

Actually, that may not work. If you go through your registry, many windows programs tell it where it should place the temporary files. Also, there is a registry setting for the temo directory. Windows 95/98 (for the most part) ignores Autoexec.bat and config.sys settings. In fact, you dont even need them to run Windows 9x. Here is the reigistry information regarding the temp directory:
(remember, before you play in your registry, BACK IT UP! don't know how? ask.)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\explorer\VolumeCaches\Temporary files]
in there you will have a value called "folder" (it should have a icon with an 'ab' on it). that folder has a value data of where you want the temp to be (c:\windows\temp b default)
Do not just change this and delete your temp directory in the windows directory. Many programs have a setting to use the c:\windows\temp (for instance Winzip uses it by default). If search your registry for c:\windows\temp you may have a better chance of finding other programs and changing them. do not search for 'temp' because you will get every word that has temp 'for instance TEMPlate).
hope this helps
