    My Half-Life level (Plz read)

I am suprised I haven't thought about this until now.

I made a Deathmatch, yes Deathmatch level for Half-Life last year. It took me about two weeks to make, working about 6 hours on it every day. Well, I have already released my first version after making a pre-release of it and talking to some folks over at Planet Half-Life about how to improve my level.

Yet, very few people, besides my close friends and specific internet buddies, have played my level. It has been out for almost a year now and it has staied in the hands of the people who first tested the map with me. I need to get this map out and circulating.

So I am asking all of you SysOpters who have, and enjoy Half-Life to take some time and download my HL level. It is 541kb and it is inm ZIP format.

    Here is the link:

I ask that you play it and then post back here on what you think of it and how I could improve it. I have the basic design, and I am not going to change that, but I need to refine item and weapon placement. So please help me and download this level.

    Thanks!

Also, I have not been mapping since summer, and I may want to take it up again, give me your support! I am thinking of making a Counter-Strike level which will use cs_italy textures. it will be called de_rome or cs_rome, Most likely a hostage map, but I may be able to make it a bomb map.

Edit-> so far, this is what cs_rome looks like.... not much eh?

P.S. In the future sometime, the [SO]Starmasters Unofficial SysOpt CS server may be running my level. When we work out a date and time for this event, which all SysOpters are welcome(and encouraged!) to come and join in the fun. I will make a post about it in this Gaming forum.

WOW THAT MAP IS THE BEST EVER!! #1 DOWNLOAD OF THE YEAR! Ok, it is acutally a pretty good deathmatch level. My personal favorite is to grab tons of snatchels and lay them at the bottom of on of the ramps. Then hide behind them and wait for someone to come along and BOOM! Very effective (and the word cheap is not in my vocabulary)

I just checked it out FL. Pretty good level.

    Regarding availible weapons:
I'd put plenty of small firearms and ammo for them sprinkled around. But I'd refrain from putting any Rocket Launchers or the other heavy duty weapons in the map. Because it's a fairly small map and the enviorment is confining (small rooms, narrow hallways).

I would make sure there are plenty of grenades, snatchels, and especially trip lasers. That map is a perfect trip laser enviorment.

I like to set up a LOT of trip lasers at the end of a small hallway (going every direction, up/down, left, right, diaganol) and then go around and chase someone into that hallway and quickly place some more trip lasers trapping them inside. Then back off and use the crossbow to snipe them as they attempt to get rid of the trip lasers without blowing themselves up.

(yeah ok, I did it once or twice, but I still liked it.)

Cool level man. The level is not really small, but somewhat confined. Alotta stuff crammed into an average sized space. But it isn't a bad thing. It is a good thing. I played with 6 bots of varying difficulty, and man the body count was rising by leaps and bounds. Constantly I would be hearing gunfire and see the top corner with yet another death announcement. If you are gonna revise that level, I'd put some ammo next to the gun it is for. You don't have to put a whole stack of shotgun shells next to the shotgun, but the one thing I wasn't to impressed with was the fact I would have to scour the map to try and find ammo. But if you aren't gonna revise it, it is fine the way it is as far as I'm concerned.

But could you tell me if or where the gun or guns are that use those energy pack thingys to shoot the yellow or blue light? I can't remember what they're called right now, but if you could let me know it'd be cool.

And if I want to build my own map how would I go about doing that? What prog did you use? Is it hard for a beginner?
