halflife

Just finished half life last night. Amazing game!! slightly disappointed with the ending but i suppose it is difficult to end a game which has given so much.
Anyway open for suggestions on the next one to buy. Is there anything new in the market worth getting, or should i just go and get AvP and spend the rest of my life scared?
cheers

If you liked Half-Life as much as I did, then stay tuned for Half-Life:Opposing Force.
It's scheduled to be released before Xmas, and you play as a soldier who was assigned to stop Freeman in the Original! Check out the mission pack here:

Uh oh...someone is going to think I'm spamming for Sierra... arrgh! Sorry guys!!

OF is gunna be great if you enjoy playing FPS's in single player (I know I like it )
It's really a shame that all new FPS's are geared towards multiplayer...

Oh..a thought came to mind...another FPS based on single player is System Shock 2. Ive played the demo and wanted to get it in a while, but I think ill just wait for OpFor. SS2 is based more upon RPGish elements than shoot 'em up elements. I would play the demo first..its one of those games you either love or hate.

A friend told me about an add on called counterstrike, terorists vs. anti-terorist, what orriginal teams! It sounded cool, so I just bought the game, just for a mutiplayer add on.

i started played halflife and unreal at about the same time, i beat halflife but i'm not even close to beating unreal. I've talked to many people, many of which have beat halflife, but i don't know anybody who beat unreal, i find it like a million times harder than halflife, how does the story go, what happens? has anybody accually beat unreal? does it accually have an ending or does it just go on forever and ever?? most people like if for the first couple hours and get bored and quit

System Shock 2: Kind of scary. It is alot more complicated to play than Half-Life. Its more like an RPG in modern day.

AvP : Really cool. If you get the game, get the patch that allows you to save. It really sucks having to run thru a mission and die just 2 feet from completion.

Delta Force: Alot of fun. Unfortunatly your support team is stupid and you basically have to run thru killing everything. 1 shot 1 kill.

Rainbow Six: This one requires you to plan out your mission and then execute it in the first person. A few AI problems. 1 shot 1 kill.

Unreal: The storyline rocked until the middle of the game. Then it dropped like a lead weight.

ok, if you don't want to know the end of halflife, don't continue to read.....ummm.. those extra levels for halflife, are they continued from after you get hired, or what? i'm really interested. I really loved the story to halflife, much stronger than most 1st person shooters. the sequel to half life you play a marine and your against gordon freeman, sounds kind of neat, but i dunno, the story in halflife seems like it could lead to some much more interesting ideas (sticking with gordon freeman as the main character instead of going against him) here's a question about AvP, what engine does it use, is it new?? also, another good game i would suggest is kingpin, it's great.

I beat it. In the end, you steal a spaceship from the aliens and fly off the planet, but you only have enough fuel to break the planet's gravitatioanl pull, so you drift off into space....

until UT!

Wait. You're not done with single player Half-Life yet. You've still got to try the add-on packs. I highly recommend USS Darkstar, Redemption, or Freeman's Revenge. You can get them here as well as a bunch of other smaller SP levels.

That's an awesome link- they've got enough add-ons to keep you busy for a couple of years! I got HalfLife after reading one of AuraEdge's previous recommendation posts (thanks AE- now I have NO life other than HalfLife! ) and with these add ons, it'll be 2001 before I reintegrate myself again with the family unit!
Oh well, that's (Half) life...

Delta Force2 - Better graphics. Your guys still don't help you out very much.

Rogue Spear - Better graphics. Improved AI. A lot of nice touch ups that were not in Rainbow Six. Recommend over Rainbow Six.
