HELP!!! Half-Life won't run OpenGL on TNT2Ultra at all!!
I have a Creative labs TNT2 Ultra card:
Got the latest drivers for my video card from creative's site, but can't
seem to get OpenGL working at all... Had the problem all along.. No matter
what video drivers I put (that includes TNT Detonator), the game pops up
with the message that this videocard does not support this graphics mode.
Well, it is a 32Mb card and it should natively support OpenGL.. Doesn't even
work at 640X480.. In Direct3D game works fine, although it should look
better under OpenGL.. please advise. I also put latest update from your
site which is I think 10.0.13 or something like that.. thank you.
I've tried to change my color depth to 16-bit.. no effect whatsoever... Here's what Sierra tech support wrote me:

Hello: Try it with your desktop set at 16 bit high color and no higher. This
often corrects this problem. In general, here is the info on the drivers for
your card:
Half-Life supports the Nvidia TNT in software, OpenGL and Direct3D modes.
To run Half-Life on the TNT card you will need the latest drivers from
http://www.nvidia.com.
In addition there are some tweaks you can do in the game to improve the
picture quality/performance. A good place to get started on that is:
http://www.tweak3d.net
This contains Windows tweaks as well as various tweaks for games using the
Quake/Quake2 engine (including Half-Life).

I tried all that! NO EFFECT!! Is my card defective? 'cuz in thief I can run OpenGL at 800X600 but at 1024X768 it gives me the similar error the Half life did...

I'll take two... CPU's
I think I will reload 1/2L just to see about this. I haven't tried playing it since I put in the TNT2U.
I'll figure something out!

I'll take two... CPU's
I think you have the AGP to FSB ratio set at 1/1 and are using a 100Mhz FSB, it just sounds real familiar to me. Make sure it is set at 2/3 and try again.
Let us know!

Thanx for input, but I do run it at 2/3 and I just figured it out and it works!!
The problem was that I run dual monitors on my system, and my second video card is Diamond Fire 1000GL Pro.. As soon as I disabled the second video in Win98 display settings, it started to work... I guest there is some kind of conflict with TNT2U and Fire in terms of handling OpenGL.. It's not only HalfLife it's also Tribes in OpenGl.. Well it works now.. thanks...

Theres an easy fix then!
Just open regedit, search for the word diamond, find the diamond software keys and remove the OpenGL support keys for the Fire GL video card. Then when you start an OpenGL app. the TNT will take it like it's the only card there.
I had to do the same for the TNT2 with V2 SLI, but it was for D3D conflicting between the cards, not OpenGL. It's the same thing.
