Civilization: Call to Disappointment
I was really disappointed by Civ:CTP. Should of bought Alpha Centauri, theres a much better game. Stay away from this game its got some cool concepts (ex. unconventional warfare) but wasn't implimented well at all. The interface is not too good and theres a thing with the turns, they represent a shorter time period as you progress (so you have no time in the early ages).

Hello,
What do you think about Age of Empires. I haven't played Civilization:CTP but I love AOE. Can't wait for AOEII! What's your opinion?

I agree with him. CCTP isn't really the funnest game to play although graphics are pretty good. Other than that, it isn't erally addicting as Alpha Centauri. Alpha Centauri is probably the best game with the same concept as Civ 2 but better graphics, and the ability to make your own units. If you buy a game this summer, make sure its Alpha Centauri.

I like AOE, CIV:CTP is a bit different. Now that I have more money I will go out and buy Alpha Centauri. This game seems great! I downloaded the demo (100 turns to play) and it is great! At times it takes me 2.5 hours or more just to finish a demo game! Excellent game, very addicting.

Guess what, I was looking over at Fraxis gaming (makers of Alpha Centauri) and a news release says the team that designed Civ2 has been reunited. As a joint effort between Fraxis and Microprose (now owned by Hasbero), the team that brought us Civ2 will now work on Civilization 3! Now this should be great!!!

Civ 3? Man, i have been hearing that CCTP was the next Civ 3 but with just a different name. Well, i wonder what Civ 3 is going to be like and is it going to be as good as Alpha Centauri?? If it is, then I am certainly going to buy that game for sure.

No, under some legal agreement Microprose now owns legal rights to the name Civilization in the future. Activision's series will continue but future games will not carry a "Civilization" name. Hasbro recently bought Microprose because they wanted the Civilization name. And announced at the E3 convention in May that they would partner with Firaxis, thus reuniting the Civ 2 team from Firaxis and Microprose!
