Quake 2 color screwups
In 3dfxopengl mode @ 1024x786 (any resolution for that matter), the colors are all messed up, they're either too dark or have a dark redish tint to them. Software mode (640x480) works fine, colors are right. Anyone know why this is? id software's cust. serv. had some bullcrap for a response. System:
AsusP2B-f, PII-350, 128mb pc-100, 6.4gb west. dig. hd, monster 3d voodoo2 12mb (diamond).

Try changing Gamma Correction under the Voodoo2 tab in Display Properties. (I've got the Creative but Diamond should be similar.) A value of 1.50 in all three colors works for me but your red may need adjusting. Just try different settings until it looks right.

I had a problem with the colors having a oily rainbow effect. I tried adjusting Gamma and used idgamma. I tried everything then I tried a reinstall of the game. It worked. That is until I upgraded the game back to 3.20. I had an idea that it was one of the games DLL files and I was right. I used the original ref_gl.dll from the Quake 2 CD and the oil slick ws gone.
