who need fast computer anyway
<---------------- 333mhz & very satisfy
My mother at 166mhz she dont notice any difference between the 2
all she does is surf the internet nothing else.
This is like a family thing
who need overpowered machine anyway
they dont do nothing but give out more heat and eat more electricity.
Faster machine, you go nowhere you still in one place
you just sitting on your computer
doing the same stuff.
I dont play any of those 3D game
remember they all suck!!!
2D game are much better and require little
resources and even run OK on a P100 machine.
Let me ask you this I dont do anything other
then look at jpg, listen to MP3, print a few picture and docs why do I need something that exceed that requirement eh?
Heck even AOE2 play are a pretty decent speed
on P233mhz with 64 meg of ram...
For all those bragging about having 800mhz
900mhz etc
what is the point?
Just to say I am slow and you are faster?
Is not do me much good, I would feel
I have wasted so much money down the drain.
My computer does everything I want and it is infact perform beyond my expectation.
Remember that AGP 2x greatly enhanced
speed regardless how crappy it is.

I am very happy that you can get along with your computer the way it is.
But for those of us who do video/audio editing, or think that 3d games might be (gasp) BETTER than 2d, or like to multitask, the extra power does come in handy.
I will be sure to wave to you from my porsche as you putt along in your pinto. Heck, if your happy I am happy

First of all, if all you're doing is surfin, then you are right. I know that West Front, a good 2d game, runs better on my friends 900 athlon than it does on my 558 piii, and the requirements are like a p133! Faster load times is the basic benefit, but, come on, we all know we want more...

i need a fast computer well, u just need something better, if you have a 500, and get a 600, u won't feel any difference. if u have a 133, and get a 900 or 850, then we're talking power. but.. surfing, if that's all u do, u won't find a big difference, just get a better modem, or get DSL or something.

I'm sure that a lot of people here have computers as a hobby too. Several have more than one computer. Why? to play around with. As a hobby.
Everyone has some type of hobby that they spend money on. ( cars, motorcycles, snowboarding, scuba.)

If all you do is surf then why even have a computer? Get webtv or something like that.

Also, He says the faster ones use more electricity, thats wrong, sure, if your overclocking it and have 12 120 MM fans running, but for a P III 600E, its runnin at 1.65 V, not the 3.3 V that the P 166 is runnin......

Im not cheap at all I do give away computer part that are too slow or of no use to me.
I do spend quite a bit in the past
remember when they were real expensive
you basically couldnt get anything
decent without going broke.
you didnt know I have 2 computer did you?
both have 128meg of ram
one have 17gig, 8gig and 2 gig
the other have
2gig and 1.6 gig
both have sb AWE64
so you see Im trying to spend at less as possible for both and try to balance betweent the 2.
I have spend all my money on these fancy equipment.
a month ago I got this 17 inch monitor
for 188 and it was much better then my 15inch i could see better it like TV
I also have 4 Hifi VCR
Now you know I'm a pretty big spender.
also 120 tapes worth of stuff when added up it about 250$

well i think you guys spend too much on machines that u only use for games nothing really for business or to gain any profit from. think about it, its waste of money when u could spend or earn to buy urself a new car. well i'm probably only saying this cause i got a 266 comp haha! oh well...

My dear friend, you've missed the point! Overclocking isn't about getting a faster machine. If it was, we'd all just buy faster chips. Nay, I tell you, it is the lure of squeezing blood from a stone, eeking every bit of performance out of a CPU, pushing it past the very limits the Evil Manufacturer said it would never scale.
And then the moment of triumph, that you will tell your children about for generations, when you stand in front of your Celeron and it boldly reports its speed: 850 MHz!
"But Grandpa," they will say, "there was no 850 Mhz Celeron in 2000!"
And with a twinkle in your eye you'll say, "I know."

LOL
gotta tell ya..it was real cool to have a Celly 366@550 when the PIII 500 just came out.
I had a 550...
And on this new board I got It wont hit 550 anymore...
and I hate odd bus speeds, so i backed it down to 366....
and I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE...
Dont know how, but I can feel every difference.
