    Gates' time

My eleven-year-old grandson has just pointed out that W98 SE, preinstalled on my new laptop, displays a twenty-four-hour time in the usual place on the taskbar but adds, superfluously, an AM/PM suffix. Is there a way of purging this, or must it remain (like the Office Assistant) a Microsoft embarrassment on our system?

Well my install of Win98 SE only has a 24 hour clock, with no AM/PM.

    Currently it says 10:29.

Maybe its some bug with the time zone?

Try looking in the Time setting of Regional Settings, in the Control Panel. If AM or PM is in the AM/PM symbol boxes, clear it and then restart.
