Is it me or ???
Hi,
Just bought my full version of Win98 SE today.
Formatted, and installed it onto my main computer. I also must add that it now has a Soyo 6BA+ motherbard instead of a Chaintech 6BTM (needed extra PCI slot for satellite net access), and I also picked up a Celeron 400 PPGA with a MSI slotket, which I have running now at 450MHz in this computer.
Anyway, my RC5 keyrate, with celery 450 is only 1.01MKey/sec. When I had my PII 300 at 450 in the 6BTM it got up to 1.25MKey/sec.
I have yet to try it with my Celery 504A Slot-1, but I fear my keyrate will be about 1.2MKeys/sec instead of 1.4.

I think it's that microsoft optimised OS. Try running a dos client for a few hours and see if you get your 1.24Mk/s.

The 95/98/NT 443 cli runs much much better than the gui does- I had a big knarly memory/resource leak that would slow the system down terribly (into the swap file, no resources) after using it for browsing etc. which would not correct itself. The cli cured this problem. More time consuming to set up, but worth it- it is faster as well.

It was me.
In the morning when I looked at the client, after putting back my celery 504 it said 1.41Mkeys/sec.
Also, why does the cli client say in the benckmark 1.51MKeys/sec, but I only get 1.42 at max in reality.
