CPU Temperatures of Overclocked Cracking Machines?

Ok guys: I would like to know what CPU and case temperatures everyone is getting on their systems that are running RC5 24/7 around the clock.

My PII-450 running 527 MHz @ 2.05 volts shows 62-65°C CPU temp. and 39-42°C case temp.

My Celery 300A running 450 MHz @ 2.2 volts shows a case temp. of 34-38°C.

    WOW!

Get the fire extingusher soon. Want some fried eggs at the computer - never have to leave the room,.

Well my PII 300 SL2YK overclocked to 450 runs at 34*C at it's hottest! The case is at 24*C.

My Celeron 300A at 504 runs at 38*C and the case at 26*C.

All from the temp sensors on my Chaintech 6BTM. The CPU one is on a stalk and presses in agains't the processor tightly.

I was going to add voltage and temp to the database, but I though a lot of people wouldn't know what their's was or they got an alpha or MIPS machine. Which would be greek to everyone else. If you think it sould be added I will.

As for my Cel 366 @550 2.3v 40C - 48C. Anything above 43C will make it crash with everything except RC5des.

    When running @413 2.3v it's 29C - 40C.

    I don't understand my temps.

I have the case off, dual 18cfm 40mm fans on each heatsink, and the Celeron even has an ALPHA P60120SB heatsink! Both systems also have a 4 inch 65 cfm fan blowing onto the video card and the CPU.

WHY are my temps so HIGH?? And both of the heat sinks are only skin temp. to the touch. They are NOT hot at all.

What sensor setting do you use on an ABIT BX-6 and BH-6 running Motherboard Monitor 4.08? I thought I had it set up correctly!

Remember that the CPU temp sensor doesn't work properly on the BX6-2 and on the CPU temp, it reports incredible temps (I think I was in the 160s F range). You can safely ignore that. In fact, I think that a later BIOS of the one you have simply says "Not Available" (or something like that) on the CPU temp section of the BIOS.

Joel: I read and followed this article

    www.benchtest.com/rt2.html

and I have one of the earlier BX-6 Rev 2.01 boards that HAS the resistor and capacitor installed, therefore I should be able to monitor the temps correctly. I simply don't understand it all yet. Give me time.

One more thing, you are correct, in my BIOS it says N/A in the RT2 (CPU temp) reading, but the fans are reporting the same speeds in the BIOS and Motherboard Monitor.

I am currently running the KU BIOS from the FTP site. This BIOS version has not yet been released to the website for "approved" use.

Update: I just got my Celeron 400A (that I got for 4th place in the RC5 contest). I tweaked it to the MAX for overclocking by coating it with polyurethane, wrapping with foam insulation and adding a peltier.

I have it running 500 MHz @ 2.3 volts to burn it in for a few days running the RC% client.

My new Thermal diode reading is 49°C which is quite a difference from my PII-450 o/c to 527 MHz @ 1,95 volts

If I turn off the RC5 client and start up "Rain", the CPU temp drops within a minute to 15°C

Joel: This proves that my BX-6 rev 2 m/b is reading properly, and that the RC5 client really heats up my machine.

As long as the temp stays under 50°C, I will continue to run the RC5 client and not worry about the temps.

Well, that is indeed interesting. I just still do not believe that the CPU temp can be trusted. The same Celeron 300A that I used to have in a Shuttle board and read out about 120 degrees F is now posting over 160 degrees F under the same conditions in the BX6-2. I still don't believe my BX6-2 (I believe I have an original, unrevised version 2).

I just received a BE6 that I'm about to install. I'll let you know what it says the CPU temp is.

One thing is sure, this is indeed an interesting situation. I hope to have more information soon.

    I have a BH6 with a PII333 @ 416. It runs at 34-37C.

You think I could run it faster? I thought 40C was the safe limit.

I'm running 22C constant bh6 366 o/c 550 with extra case fan and harddrive cooler. It runs alot cooler than my 300a oc 450 did in same case Enlight.... run both at 2.0 volts... Had to run 366 at 2.3volts to get it to first post at 550, but after twenty minutes I could post at 2.0 volts and stable ever since. At 2.3 heatsink on global win was very warm to the touch.
