Don't mind me :)
This is just another one of my **VERY CRAZY** ideas!
What if we could get Intel or AMD to sponsor us? If they would *lend* us some parts until the contest is over it would be great, free, advertising for them!
We could change our name to something like:
Sysopt.com in association with Intel
That way it would be good advertising, plus if we crack it, Intel (or AMD) would get even more free advertising on the news, computer magazines, the 'net, etc. because OUR team was the one that cracked it.
Think of all the people that would hear about it and Intel (or AMD)
It sounds like something they would do. It's great publicity!
What does everyone think of this? Think they would go for it?

IDT or Rise would be a more realistic goal, they need advertising and are smaller then Intel or AMD. Most likley they would say no too but hey, its worth a shot

It'd be worth a try, but I think they would all say no. It would have to be someone like Scott, or Anand who would use the parts, not some RC5 members, as the companies know them.
All I want now is gotoworld to come active.

Unfortunately, neither Intel nor AMD would ever consider sponsering a group that promotes running chips out of spec. That is not the type of publicity they want; it cuts into their profits. How can they convince people to spend, let's say 500.00 for a chip when you can get about the same performance for 90.00. They would prefer people not know how to do this.

Great idea, run with it, but i tink the answer would be no as it isn't the company's victory it's distributed.net's victory...
