NIC locking up
I have installed a new motherboard and notice a strange problem. Just about every day or so when I power up I cannot get on line. I am not even seeing my router. I try releasing in winipcfg and try to renew. I get a message saying it could not connect to the DHCP server (again the router). Yet everyone else is on the network and running.
The only way out of this is to remove the NIC via Control Panel, shut down, and put the NIC in a new slot. It gets detected and works again.
Looking fo any ideas on what is going on here.
System:
ASUS A7A266 MB
Atlon 266
256meg DDR
Nic is kinda no name
NIC driver Realtek8139/(A/B/C/8130)
Any ideas appreciated.

I would change your NIC with one of the others that work fine.
My belief is the porblem pertians to your NIC and/or driver. So this could verify the source of the problem.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Your response kicked off something I had forgotten. When I had the NIC in the old motherboard I always got the drivers from the Windows CD. Anytime I've reinstalled it with the new motherboard I have had to use the manufacturers disk. Windows says it cannot find the driver on the CD.
