NT login problems
Brain **** here guys.
We bought 4 new pc's at work. (new job)
Trying to get them hooked up to our NT network.
I cant seem to get them to browse any domains. I can find pc but now browse.
I have Client for Microsoft Networks, TCP/IP and NIC card adapter installed. Put in the domain under the advanced area. I get the login box, but it doesnt log in. ( I see a flash of a box that Im guessing is some error but I cant read it)
What else am I forgetting.?
Its been a few months, and Im rusty on my networking skills.
Guess I might have to make a trip to Borders tonight for some reading.
Thanks

Are both the 4 machines joined to this domain, make sure there are joined into your domain and they have the right to login over the network

yes these machines have permission, I am also using my login as admin to set them up.

Hi alfaguy,
Check that the DOMAIN name you've put at the PCs is the correct one. Then check the IPs they get. Are they free or already reserved by another client? (using DHCP is HIGHLY recommended). Also, to browse a client on a network you must have enabled the file and print sharing and also (not sure, I don't use 9x) you must share at least one drive.
Also, go to the PDC (=Primary Domain Server) and at the Administrative tools go to the Server Manager and see if your new clients are members of the domain. If not, add them.
Hope this will give you a tip.

Im still not getting anywhere.
Client for MS, adapter, TCP/IP File/Print sharing is installed.
I checked the domain and it is correct.
Funny thing, I can log into my own machine fine and browse but not the new machines.
I can still "find" server but not browse.
thanks

Try pinging the PC, if pinging is right it's a window config problem, if not it's a network problem.
-
Try pinging from the server to the Workstation and from the workstation to the server or other PC

It seems there is a problem with WINS. Check if you have set it up correctly. Also, please tell us if you can ping the other machines using IP address and not WINS names. Also, check for NetBIOS that it is also installed.
