Sharing ISP between 2 machines
My wife has a computer in her home office, and I have one in my end of the house. Presently we each have dedicated phonelines and separate ISP accounts. Is there technology whereby we can share one ISP account and one phoneline and work independently of one another, i.e., she can read her email and buy a book at www.amazon.com while I browse www.sysopt.com at the same time? I'd like to save some money if possible.
Thx in advance for any answers and/or links to relevant sites!

What I personally use and love is SYGATE It is very easy to setup and work with and will act like a firewall for you also You can download the full featured 30 day demo for free and if you like it, it is very inexpensive to register WITHOUT any further downloads!

Keep in mind you will need to connect the two computers via a network hub or long crossover cable, or some other non-conventional home networking solution. (wireless or phone line LAN) Do you have network cards in each machine?

KTWebb: I do not have a network card in either machine. I am the definition of "novice" when it comes to any type of networking. Can you provide me with a skeletal schematic of how these 2 machines 60' apart can share one phoneline and ISP account? Must the modems be the same speed in each machine? Etc.
Thanks very much!

to use Sygate, you will need 2 network cards, a crossover cable to link the two, and just one modem. I dont think any cables are 60 feet long tho. You may be able to use some type of extention, or use a hub to hook up 2 cables to it
I got my cards for 12 a peice, and my 50 foot cable (the largest they had) for 9 bucks

By the way, if you have Windows 98 SE you will be able to share the INternet Connection. It is also included on Windows 2k in all its flavors and releases.
