    Network cards/wires

Right, i can get my network to regognise all my computers, and i can look at the drives on the other computers, but when i start to transfer a file across, it stops and crashes the computers after a while. has anyone any ideas whether this is due to the cards or the wires, as the cards were installed and recognised by plug and pray without any problems.

    Cheers

I have the same problem with a 10baseT Linksys starter kit and 2 computers. What hardware do you have? A friend suggested that there were too many errors at the lower network layers (or whatever they are called), and the computer crashes out.

It could be due to heavy network traffic. Do you have all the computers connected to a hub with a collision light? I have seen this happen before where the collision light started blinking, and then shortly after the file transfer failed.
