    Cable length

Is there a minimum length for RJ45 cable? I just need to go from my system to my hub about 2feet, can I just cut a 3foot piece off of another cable and get the connector ends? (is it easy to put new connectors on the cable ends)

You can buy premade cat 5 cable in 1,2, or 3 ft lengths for less than $5.
If you do not have a crimping tool and you are not going to be making up many cables, it might be more cost effective to just buy a new cable.

Generally you will see this length cable being used at a patch panel connecting the panel to a hub. Their is no minmum. Joe is right, unless you have the right tools, just buy it.
