RJ 45 cable...
How would I shorten a cable, or replace one end? Would it be the same as like a phone cord? The connection on 1 end of my cable is dead... it's a 70 ft cable, and kinda pricy to replace... where would I buy a new end for it? Any help would be much appreciated

Anyplace that sells the cable should also sell the parts to replace an end.
And yes, it's like telephone cable, just more wires and higher quality than your typical phone wiring. Be sure that you reconnect the wires EXACTLY like they were before.
BTW, I'm assuming you refering to 10-BASE-T cabling.
Hope this helps!

and you will need a crimpper tool too. Radio Shack Has good tools. Places like CompUSA have the ends too but cheap @ss tools. I don't think that best buy has the ends. Your problem might be in the wire somewhere down the line. If you end up having to replace the wire check at some electric supply stores for a box of wire. You can get 1000' boxes of (U)-Cat 5 for around $70-80 and like ends for around $.05 each
