    nic card trouble

    We're trying to put a nic card in an old 486 to get it hooked up to our network for
    school and we keep getting this error "error 166, mismatch in slot1". What could be causing this problem?

    Have you reset your Bios ????
    there is a jumper on your system board that will reset all your bios settings.

    What kind of PC is it ???
