Win98 Networking problems
I have a Netgear FA310tx NIC. When windows boots up, it gives the error "Your network card, Netgear TX310, is not installed properly..blah blah". I have removed all my network settings, and reinstalled the card and protocols. Wierd thing:
first time I did this, I installed the card and the dial up adaptor and TCP/IP settings. Then I rebooted. no error. I thought maybe it was fixed. I went back installed Client for MS networks and IPX/SPX and installed file and printer sharing. I rebooted and then i got that error message again. Any ideas?

I have just recently finished installing a network on my
dx486 /win98 + celeron 300/win98
And I also had a hell of a time getting my cards working properly .
Everything looked ok , but the network would not function. I eventually discovered That I had an irq setting conflict.
Check all of these . But note the only way to know for sure that they are functioning
is to go into control panel /system /device manager then selectcomputer(at the top of the list)then properties if your network card is functioning correctly it will have no symbols over it .
I kept coming up with a small white stopsign shape with the letter i in it .If you come up with that sign you have to do battle with the irq settings.
Good luck!!!!
