    Printers and NDS

Got another network printing question for y'all.

All of my printers have been successfully configured and are operating nicely on my new NetWare 4.11 servers under NDS. The only problem is that sometimes a random printer or two will unconfigure itself for NDS and will, of course, stop printing. When I check NWadmin everything looks ok, but HP Web JetAdmin confirms that the printers are unconfigured for NDS and I have to set them back up on their queues again. Can someone tell me why this is happening and how to stop it?

    Thanks!

I had the same thing happen with some TekTronix Phaser 560's at work. Turns out when ever the printer is recycled or when power is removed it will unconfigure itself!

There is a fix for it to save the settings you make as default. Pretty screwy huh?

    Thanks, BBA!

Did you mean there is a patch for Web JetAdmin? I'm not clear on that...

What printers do it? Are they usually the same printer repeated times?

We never really had this occur with the HP's we have unless something wierd happened.

I had to call Tech support for the 560 to figure it out, but it was a printer problem, not Jet Admin, and the printers in question have JetDirect built in!!

Have you tried configing the problem children with Jetadmin instead of web jetadmin? I've only tried WebJA once, and did not have the best of luck with it. Of course I was using it with ancient XIO cards in a LaserJet II so my experience does not really equate to much in the real world. Just a thought... You can download either at www.hp.com .

Seems to be randomly scattered occurrances so far... All our printers are LJ4s or LJ4000s, although there is one Phaser in Marketing that gave me fits (it's fine now)!
