I've been wanting to start a server for a pretty long time now. I wanted to give people "free" games to download and try for "a couple of days" and then buy the full version of it from an actual store.

So I call FlashCom to see what prices they offer around the speed of 1.1 M Upload and 1.1 Download. They guy over the phone gave me this **** price:

    $300(server), $300(installation)
    for next month, and $400(router)!

That's 1 GRAND, people, just to get started! Sorry, FlashCom, maybe the next caller'll buy it.

Please help me out here, tell me if there is a company out there that gives a reasonable price for a speed around 1.1 Mb up and down.

    Thank you

that's not a bad price for a dedicated line at near T1 speed. in my area a frame relay runs from $200(56k) to $800(1.54mg). and a fractional T1 startes at $600(256k) to $800(512k). and a full T1 runs around $900 but you can find some for around $600 but you pay a surcharge for the amount of data transfer. and most of then have a $500 set up fee. for that matter a dedicated ISDN is around $150. where a dial-up is $38.00 plus .003 per mim charge for data transfer. dedicated lines are not cheap, "if you have to ask you can't afford it".
