Home network help
I have a 5 port hub with my 2 systems on it and a asdl(phone line)modem, both computers have internet but I cannot seem to get the two computers to see each other in explorer, but I want to be able to see them in explorer so I can drag&drop files.
Current setup is :
*client for microsoft networks*
*dialup adapter*
*ethernet adapter*
*tpc/ip>dialup adapter*
*tcp/ip>ethernet adapter*
*file and print sharing for microsoft networks*
*windows logon*
Can anyone give me help?

I had this same problem, i sorta got lucky when i was "trying" to fix it. I just removed all Clients, the File Sharing, rebooted with em removed, rebooted again after windows asks you to, then added my clients for Netware and Microsoft networks. Then i rebooted, lol, and added the rest, it works now, but windows does have really bad Networking IMO
One last thing i had to edit in.
I ended up installing IPX protocol for my games and NetBEUI i think, the Linksys manual suggested it, you might give those a shot.

Because your ADSL is communicating with the NIC through IP.. you have to have an alternative protocol for lan operations..

I am trying to get both system to use the "BELL HIGH SPEED MODEM" I have the 1 system using it. I have a hub and can get the systems networked and can use each others hard drives. Now the guy from Sympatico help desk said that the IP is assigned to the NIC card in the 1st system, how do I get both systems to use the one modem. HELP!!!!!

If you want PC A's drives to show up in explorer on PC B you need to map A's drives that you want to see. Find computer or Network Neighborhood, Click on computer A when it comes up, the shared drives should show up, right click and click on map drive. Be sure Reconnect at next login is checked so you wont have to remap every time you boot.

in order to have to pc use one internet connection you have to have pc(a) setup as a server of sorts kindof a DHCP server one that will allow pc(a) to assign an IP address to pc(b)NT server can do this if you don't have that you can get modem sharing programs like WinProxy,WinGate, and SyGate they will set pc(a) to serve an IP and are not to diffacult to config. hope this helps

Listen to Jin Vitas...just load another protocol on both boxes and share your drives.
Listen to him, guys. I found out the hard way that he really knows what he is doing a while back.

Jin,
Quick question....Could you run a 2nd Nic card in the Primary computer and bind the ADSL to one of the Nic's and have the 2nd Nic for the "network"? I am currently running Spoonproxy (on a NT box) but getting a cable modem shortly (its comming avaliable to my area!) and want to beable to share it thru out my home network (me, wife, daughter) Will it work?
Thanks
