    SpoonProxy

    Hi

    Have a slight problem here.

Config: first PC is my PDC (NT4 Server sp4), modem atached (Hayes Accura), RAS installed and configured to access the internet (through Virgin Net), and SpponProxy is installed.
Second PC (client): NT4 WS sp4, no modem (obviously), connected to the PDC via a cross-over cable (no hub yet).

The 2 PC's are on the same ip range with same subnet mask.
I have intalled SpoonProxy on the PDC, un-installed RAS on the client, changed the internet options to LAN connection (with settings for SpoonProxy)...
But, I can't connect from the client...
Am I missing something ? Certainly, but what ?

    Thanks for any input.

    Stan

PC: I am using pcAnywhere to access the PDC (from the client), so YES, the 2 PC's can see each other.

first of all can you see the PDC? and have you setup the default gateway as the PDC..

    Hi Jin

Like I said, connections are OK between PDC and client (same IP range, same subnet mask, no gateway).
I can ping, map drives, pcAnywhere into the PDC.
Anyway, I re-mapped the settings in SpoonProxy to connect to my ISP and I am now able to dial from the client.
BUT, guess what ??? my ISP was down most of the evening yesterday, aaargh !!!! so no connection could be established... will retry today.

    Have a nice day

Last one: you don't have to set your PDC as your default gateway. The only setings you need to change are in the Internet Properties and Account Properties in your mail client.

Stan, I tried about 25 different proxy programs on my home network and although I liked Spoon Proxy, I think I like Sygate better, and Oscar 10 has a s/n for it. It's the only program Ive had that lets games see servers directly. I was able to rid myself of Q2FAQ proxy, now I just run Gamespy like its directly connected to the ISP, or type in IP's from Q2 console and it works!

I like the excellant DHCP Sygate has also, no more configuring clients manually!

    You should try it!

Am I missing something here? Why do you need PC Anywhere to access the PDC? Is it something to do with the games? Just curious.

    Sourjon,

Nope, there is nothing to do with games... and pcAnywhere won't help me to play games, specially on a NT Server platform.

The reason why I am using pcAnywhere is because my PDC does not have any screen/mouse/keyboard. So, the easiest way is to use pcAnywhere and it works perfectly !
