Frustrating problem with Netgear FB104
I installed a Netgear Network Starter kit (with some help from this forum) about 2 months ago, and its run fine.
My father just bought a new computer and I figured that until he has all the information from the old box in the new, it would make things easy to bring up my Netgear kit and install it on his system.
I installed the cards and they show no conflicts. The hub and cables appear to be hooked up fine, and all the settings in "Network" in Control Panel are identical to the settings in my computers, but neither computer shows up in "Network Neighborhood" on either system.
This has me really stumped. I even tore the system down and reinstalled it on my boxes and it worked fine. Just when I thought I was starting to understand Networking, I'm back to square one.
What could I possibly be missing?

Tom, Dont dispair!
A couple of quick questions to help us figure out whats happening.
1 What network types are you installing? ie. Netbuey, TCP/IP, IPX ect.
2. are you sure the cards dont have a system conflict? IRQ's best that they are not "shared" either.
3. Make sure all the computers are not "named the same"...
4. double check to see if you have a "connection light" when you plug the cable into the hub.
Keep us informed of what you find or try...
Good luck

install file and print sharing in network neighborhood in order to see each system as well as have a universal protocol. like netbeui or ipx
