Have you see this one
I have a two computer network. Both pc's runing win98. Whenever i boot up, compA sees compB immediately, However for compB to see compA i have to do three things.
First..I have to do a find on compB
Second.. I have to then go to compA and change its name. It dosen't matter what i change it to.
Third.. go back to compB and do a find with the new name. Then and only the will it see compA.
I'm using tcp/ip and netbeui on compA and netbeui on compB.
What could possibly be wrong?

I am using Lantastic, so if you are using Client for Microsoft Windows this may be different.
On computer B, in Windows Explorer, right click on Network and select properties.
Select Client for Microsoft Windows and then click on properties. The "General" tab should appear. Make sure you have "logon and restore network connections" enabled.
Probably want to do this after you have first enabled each computer to talk to the other so that the Client is mapping them properly.
Hope this works.

Thanks for the help Ridefree, but I finally got it working. On the pc that would not show up on the network, using a Netgear card, I had to change from the "enhanced 32 bit driver" to the "real mode 16 bit driver".
It's been working like a charm ever since.
The pc that worked fine from the start was using a Soho card.
I met a fellow at a computer show last saturday with the exact same problem. He was also using a Netgear card and a Soho card. He tried the same fix and it worked.
Hope someone will benifit from this.
