accessing LAN?? 2 NIC 1 m/b

OK.... I already posted this problem before. I did try solution suggested but got no positive result.
I am unable to access my LAN while I have 2 Nic on my computer. LAN is peers connection.
One NIC is a pci for accessing Internet. The other NIC is a ISA for my LAN. There's on sign of conflict in Dev.Mgr but can't access the LAN. This is after I have tweak with it by changing irq and i/o range. My last attempt was to assign the IRQ 7 (normally given to lpt1) but that didn’t work. I have switch slot my sound card with my NIC card. Hoping to assign it to irq 5 for my LAN. That didn’t work. Despite all attempt. My question is ...IS IT FEASIBLE TO HAVE 2 NIC CARD ON ONE MOTHER BOARD? It looks like I’m out of IRQ to assign.how do i proceed to specificly assign an irq.

Why don't you look and see what resources are being used by each component, IRQs especially.
Also you could try removing your sound card, modem, disable serial and parallel ports then try it to see what happens.

Hi,
I did exatly what you say. I verified all irq and i/o before switching it. Once switched it was giving me either and irq or i/o conflict. So i select an irq (like 7 since i have disconnected the port) or any other available irq. There was no "!" in device propreties. Also i have verified the irq and i/o and no conflict. But...i can't access my lan. I was able to see my station but not the other in net-hood.
Anymore suggestion...thanks

In your network settings, try using NetBEUI protocol for your LAN, and TCP/IP for your other NIC. I set up my home network over the weekend, and couldn't get my machines to see each other until I added NetBEUI.

To be on the safe side, all protocol are installed. IP addresses are assigned as it supposed to. My last attempt was switch slot with sound card and NIC Ne2000. That didnt really do any good. I manage to solve the irq and i/o conflict. I still can't access my lan (neither can't ping). Any more suggestion.

I think you should remove ALL protocols, then add just NetBEUI and TCP/IP (on both machines).

are both of your pci slots busmaster. most pci lan cards must have bus mastering not bus slave slots.

HI,
No....one is ISA card and the other is a PCI.
ISA is my lan card, NE2000 while my PCI is my D-Link for internet access.
