SomeBody - Please explain ISP Bandwith

I recently changed my CPU from a P166 MMX to a AMD K6-2 300, and I was over at AnandTech and want to look at the Real audio stream he has on the opening page. I got an error saying that either my ISP's banwith was not great enough or my cpu was not capable. I recall having success with the P166. What gives. I don't understand the bandwith comment. Anyone care to help me increase my knowledge. Thanks

Well, if you are using a modem to connect to your ISP, then it really does not matter if you have a 1000mhz chip as all info has to squeeze thru thru a max of 53k (well, FCC says no 56k) and if your paticular ISP is overloaded (read too many subscribers) then their internet connection gets slow also. Result? even though your modem may be capable of say 53k, (assuming you have a 56k modem & 56k connection at your ISP) your ISP may only deliver you 28k or even less. You may have also ran into a overload condition at the site's end also, same thing can occur there when too many attempt to log onto that server. Retry the video stream again at a different time, you may get enough bandwidth to make it all work
