    Bios

I had two systems using AMD 333&350 K62 on PC100 mainboards model M590. Last month the bios on the 333 flashed and was Kaput. Both boards had the same bad habit of stopping on Wait at boot up. The 350 still does. What should I do?

    Flash them again.

Flash them again (with the right BIOS - latest for PC-Chips M590 is 1998/12/09), and make sure your IDE drives are jumpered right. Some disk drives have three jumper positions - master, slave, and standalone.

Like most SiS chipset mainboards, M590 sits idle for a LONG time during IDE drive detection if there's something not quite right there.

    Regards, Peter

Does the wait occur while the BIOS is detecting the hard drive? If so, do you have a Western Digital hard drive? If so, then make sure that the jumper is in the stand alone position. WD hard drives will make you wait a long time if they are set to master when they are the only device on the cable.
