Motherboard Problems with Voodoo3 AGP?
I'm about to buy a 2nd hand AGP 3dfx Voodoo3 for my brothers old PII 300 system. However, the FAQ on the 3dfx website sez there might be a conflict between older motherboards (his is a MSI-6111 using the intel82440LX) because of the voltage supply to the AGP slot, and could even burn the MB out.
Does anyone here know if that will happen with his MB?
according to the 3dfx website, the MB needs to have a switching regulator for the power supply and not a linear regulator often found in older MBs.
The MB manual says nothing about this, and I've already mailed the MSI tech support but no reply so far.
thanks in advance - andre
