A nasty letter to ASUS about the A7V and no multiplier settings
Below is a copy of the letter I sent to ASUS reguarding their apparent decision to remove the clock multiplier selector from their upcoming A7V mobo -- severely limiting the oc'ing ability of the board.
No one cares but this is a BIG deal!!
AMD locked the multiplier for their procesors to prevent oc'ing (read more money for AMD). With only fsb manipulation the oc ability of the durons/t-birds is ****. WE NEED A MULTIPLIER selector, and fortunately, ASUS came up with a way of making this possible.
AMD has decided to "put the hammer down" on ASUS apparently and ASUS is contemplating removing the multiplier selector from the upcoming A7V.
This is complete BS.
Here is a copy of the letter I sent to ASUS informing them that I intend to vote with my feet:
to info@asus.com.tw
I just wanted to let you know that I was intending to purchase a couple of A7V mobos for personal use when they came out. Recently however, I heard that you have removed the ability to set the clock multiplier from the upcoming much-anticipated boards. I, like MANY of the people I have talked to have decided that rather than buy your now UNAPPEALING product, I will wait and buy a board that will allow me to adjust the clock multiplier.
Regretfully,
El_BRio
REMEMBER GUYS----- those awesome OC'ing results Tom @ Tom's hardware achieved were with a beta A7v that had the clock multiplier enabled!!!! IF YOU PLAN TO BUY AN AMD PROCESSOR AND WANT TO OVERCLOCK it, EXPRESS YOUR NEED FOR A CLOCK MULTIPLIER TO ASUS!!!!!!

Message sent. That was the only reason I was going to get the T-Bird for my next upgrade in late August. I mentioned the word ABIT in the note so maybe they will reconsider. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. Suprisingly few people know about this problem. Only us guys who were all set to buy a ASUS a7V i guess. Spread the word. Also check out overclockers.com for more on the subject.

you should not post the same thing under diffrent placewe dont need to read it over and over

errr.... why the hell did you read it again then? Is it really such an eye-strain for you to see the title of my thread TWICE??? SCREW YOU. I realized that the post more correctly belonged in the mobo forum so I moved it here. Why do you care? Does it hurt your eyes to see the same sentence twice? Get a life loser. What really irks me is you actually waste even more of your time to post to tell me not to double post! Your post was as worthless as mine. You are truly clueless.

Just so everyone who reads this thread knows the facts. http://www.insanehardware.com/#asusa7v
Insane Hardware recieved word from Asus today that all A7V mainboards as of next week will indeed have the CPU Multiplier Manipulation Dipswitch installed and it will obviously be all fully functional. We like all of you reading this are probably releived and are pretty happy that Asus have not shot themselves in the foot with this issue. Here is the email we recieved:
Dear Jai,
OK, start from next week, all shipping A7V will have the CPU multiplier so I guess it will be very popular as you said.
Best regards,
Charles Chiang
