Please Help w/ Install of Abit KA7-100
I've rebuilt my computer many times over the years but I've never ran into this problem. I installed a new KA7-100 hoping to run an Athlon 650. The problem is the hard drive won't spin up when the IDE cable is connected to the motherboard. I have a IBM 15.3 gig hard drive which is suppose to support UDMA 100. I've tried connecting the HD to each of the four IDE slots and nothing. If I unplug the IDE cable I can hear the HD spin up. The Blue side of the cable IS plugged into the motherboard side.
I actually have an older 4.3gig Maxtor drive that I can plug in and hear spin up but the computer still won't post. I think I will worry about getting it to post once I get the IBM hard drive spinning.
The only thing I have connected currently are my Ultra TNT2 video card, hard drive, and one stick of PC133 ram. I have two flavors of ram one from Crucial and one from Mem man. Tried them both and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx

Hmmm, about the only thing you didn't mention was the jumper settings on the IBM drive. If those are right, I'd suggest visiting the IBM website to see if anything in their hard drive boards may help.
Oh, and check for any bent pins where the ide cable connects to the drive.
