Question Soyo motherboards with VIA chipset, anyone know about this?

I recently seen this statement when I suggested to someone that they get the latest VIA drivers for their motherboard:

"Soyo has their own proprietary version of the VIA chipset and drivers. He should use what they provide."

Is this true? Just wanna know so I don't go giving out bad information.

I am not sure, but I do know that my Soyo 5ema+'s chipset says ETEQ (or something like that).

Hmmm I'll have to follow up on this as I have been using the VIA updates for the 6vca and 7vca boards.

I think Soyo use the Eteq name but it is actually the Via chipset.

I've never used anything other than Soyo drivers on an Eteq Chipset MB, and they are just fine.

Whether or not there are any small differences or changes between the renamed (by Soyo) Eteq chipset and VIA I'm not sure.

Yes it is a VIA chipset as Susan said but are there any differances? Like Susan I don't think I have used anything other than there drivers.
