NU 2000 v4.5?

For anyone who has used Norton utilities 4.5 and in particular the Diagnostic section of it I have this question. First my MoBo is an ABIt BE-6 with 128 megs of ram and a PIII500. Why does the speaker test work in the diagnostics work only some of the time? It is something I can't figure out.
