Asus A7V-266E and support for new Athlon XP Processors

Hi there, i currently have an xp 1700+ on my asus a7v-266e board with ddr 2100 memory and im curious about whether this motherboard will be able to take the new athlon xp 2400/2600+ processor which has recently been "unveiled" - im not planning on getting one for a while until they become a little cheaper, I just wish to know the capability of my motherboard against future enhancements in the athlon xp range.

many thanks for any suggestions, replies or knowledge.

Just keep monitoring the Asus site for BIOS updates. You'll see a little floppy icon to the right. Click on the notes of the BIOS update. If there's a processor update, it will be listed there.

The board can support any Athlon XP with a proper BIOS update.

yeah right now is too early to tell
most mobo websites are about 2 month to 4 month behinds the actual CPU release.

lets just say they need enough people complaining to them before they will quickly do something

that's the same truth for every other company.

Hard to believe that the A7V266-E doesn't support the 2400/2600+, but the el-cheepo ECS K7S5A does in the new 0809 BIOS.

ok ive just download a bios update, which is an AWD file - I have the asus update "utility" which finds me an update but then gives me no way of downloading it, which is nice.

So anyway, this awd file, what do I do with it?

    thanks

    -Matt
