Exclamation What the hell's the diff between ATA66 and UDMA 66?

What is the difference between these two? Does my Abit BF6 support this? I know it doesn't specifically support the ATA66, but apparently there's a card you can get for it? Anyone know??

    Thumbs up

2 ways of saying the same thing. ATA66/UDMA66/UDMA mode 4 are all ways of saying that a hard drive or controller is capable of 66Mbs transfer rates. The controller, cable, and hard drive must all support it, or it will run at the slower 33MB speed. It is usually not a "no go" type of problem, as all the parts are backwards compatible. Your drive will just run slightly slower without the 66 capable controler. (Assuming your drive is even able to do ATA66) More questions? Ask away.

I see. Does this mean I can just get a new cable, controller, and HD to run at 66? You don't need a compatible MB?
