    Help: ASUS P5A / 256 MB RAM / Viper550 problem

I have an ASUS P5A board with 256 MByte RAM installed (ALI V chipset, AMD K6 300 Mhz proc). It seems only 128 MB is cachable. Should I remove 128 MB to increase system performance? A Viper 550 video card makes the system to crash with 256 MB installed but works fine with 128 MB RAM. I
downloaded and installed most recent driver versions and BIOS updates.
    Any suggestions. Thanks.

I first installed a 550 with my P5A and thought every thing was fine for a while. Then as I increased the mix of applications used it started to freeze on me. Tried all the latest drivers and BIOS updates to no avail. Then switched the 550 with an ATI card and has worked flawlessly every since.

get a voodoo 3 card and your problems wil go away
also looking in to setting up a vertual drive to load your most used programs to at boot use up 1/2 or more if your memery that will bring you back down to 128meg or less of cached memery
