irq steering disabled on gigabyte 7ix??
in the device manager under pci bus it says, irq steering disabled and miniport data not found in registry, anyone else have this? and is there a fix?
no, tried that, there is only two files to download, the ide 1.21, 1.22 or 1.24 and agp miniport 4.45, unless i'm missing something somewhere. via don't help since it's not a via chipset.
The fix is to install the right driver - for Athlon boards, it's either the AMD 756 south bridge chip or VIA's 686A. www.amd.com (Products -> Athlon -> Downloads) or www.viatech.com (Drivers) have what you need.
fixed, this is what i found,
The reason it can't find the mini-port, is because Win '98 needs to get the mini-port data from the ACPI Bios, for this board. The only way to do this (successfully) is to install Windows with the ACPI switch, then ACPI IRQ holders will appear, instead of IRQ holders, and the miniport will be loaded successfully. I also find that this makes for a more stable windows. I know this seems a bit strange, but, dumb Windows '98 can't auto detect the ACPI bios, on this board, so you have to force it. All you have to do, is install windows like this, setup /pj. IRQ 9 being used by ACPI will also appear in your device manager. There is another way to do this, by manually adding an ACPI device, but, you then end up with 2 of everything in device manager, and, it's not always possible to get rid of them. A fresh install is the best method.
