    M570

I've been visiting the site of pcchips.com, but didn't find updated bios files for the board - or the board mentioned at all??
Any suggestions where to get it? I've mailed the support.
And can any tell me what size of cpu it supports?

Go to Altonpc.com. Looks like board will go up to 300 cpu.

    Hi!

For the latest BIOS files to go onto PC-Chips boards, the best site is

    ftp.pcchips.com.tw

The M570 has SiS 5591/5595 core chipset. Find the latest drivers (IDE, AGP) at

    www.sis.com.tw

The "SoundPro HT1869+" sound chip is actually a C-Media 8330. Drivers are at

    www.cmedia.com.tw

As for processor options, the board is capable of up to 83 MHz front side bus and voltages down to 2.2V. A good, low cost match for non-gaming applications is to fit a Cyrix MII-333 (2.9V, 83 MHz 3.0x); you might also be successful with an AMD K6-2/333 (run it 83x4 instead of its intended 95x3.5).

Daring natures may take the K6-2 up to 500 MHz at 2.4V 83.3MHz 6.0x (set to 2.0x), but you are very likely to blow either the voltage regulators or the processor up there.

A warning finally: As with other types and brands of boards that have been designed before the 2.2V processors actually came, there have been reports of some M570 being unreliable at 2.2V, supplying way too high voltage in some situations. So beware, and measure. Or use a Cyrix, 2.9V is safe.

    Regards, Peter

    Hello Fellow PC Chips user!

I have often used (and recommended this board) to people who want the utmost basic (ie cheapest ) upgrades so I rely on the site very much.

As I have found out, PC Chips still keeps their web pages linked, even though it is not showing on their main product page.

I used to have the M575, and they took it out of their products page. So I typed the following:

    http://www.pcchips.com/m575.html

Similarly, do the same for your board:

    http://www.pcchips.com/m570.html

BTW, the latest bios files are probably out
    of date regardless.
    Hope this helps,

    Eric///
