    Tyan motherboard - K6-2 380mhz vs AGP

    I have a Tyan motherboard with K6-2CPU and VIA chipset and I am trying to install Hercules dynamite tnt AGP video card. everytime I use the required driver, windows comes up with a blank screen any suggestions?

    I did not have blank screen when I tried the drivers that came with my viper 550 but as soon I tried the "detonator" drives things worked properly and I managed to install the board.

    You could try obtaining the AGP VGART driver from VIA (assuming that's the chipset). Boot to safe mode and install the driver then try to reboot. Some VIA chipsets (earlier revisions) don't work well with some AGP cards but this fixes a number of them. It fixed my problem with an I740 card. Also if you have the 380 K6-2 don't even mess around, throw a little heat sink compound under the fan and jump that sucker to 400!!

    Thanks I finally boosted it up to a 400mhz chip and all my problems went away. Stay away from the 380 chip, is was a real bad experience.
