AMI chip and motherboard jumper settings needed
My org. has been given (donated) a 486 system with a AMI chipset 41-P400-001437-00101111-101094-486AVIP-H.
I have identified this as Hsin(g)/pcchip motherboard, off the AMI site. the pcchip site doesn't seem to have any ref. to this older board, and I have (2) problems:
1.-I didn't get any spec sheets on the board, so I am unable to identify the jumpers and purposes of the jumpers.
2.-The board has a secondary IDE cable block present, but I can't get the CMOS to let me set it to an 'on' or enabled setting...when I scroll to this item it is 'grayed' out and I can't figure how to get in. I have already used the 'slave position of the primary for my CD-ROM, and need to activate the secondry controller to add a 'D' drive.
Appreciate any help you might be able to give!
Thanks
Paul Holland
