    ultra DMA 66

    I just got a western digital hardrive that suports ultra dma 66.
    Are there any motherboards currently avilable that will suport this mode?

    Not that I can of right now. But may be the next Intel chipset(JX) mobo will or some Super 7 socket mobo will.

    Only board except I heard that a PcChips flavor does also.

    Is it going to be possible to upgrade the BIOS to get the UDMA 66 support ?
    I am thinking of BX mobo...

    There is one way to make use of your Ultra ATA/DMA 66 hard drive on a BX Chipset Motherboard: the Promise Ultra ATA 66 card. You have to have one vacant PCI slot. It also increases the number of IDE devices you can use from 4 to 8. You can find more information about it at www.promise.com I believe that BuyComp www.buycomp.com has the card going for about $45 - $50

    anyone know if the new 17.2 gb Maxtor supports this??
