Matsonic 5025S Problem K-2 6 300 & Cyrix
Plese help me figure this out.
I have been running a Cyrix 200MX chip in this Matsonic board for a year, runs very stable. Thought to upgrade to a MII 300, same bus 66, simple right. Would not run
at rated 66 bus, just beeped on startup and then stop. Got it to run to the start of Win 98 at 75 then kept getting corrupted registry errors and rebooting. This is a jumperless motherboard and the bios is upgraded, it correctly idenitifies the CPU yet it will not run. Tried some manual settings with no luch either.
Thought is was a CPU problem, got another, same problem. Switched to a AMD K-2 300,
same problem. Please help if you have any ideas why this board, rated to run these CPU's, will not do so. I pop the 200MX back in and it fires tight up. I do have revision 3.2 and bios later than 12-29-97 able to run the newer CPU's so I am lost at finding the solution.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY/ALL REPLIES

Have you checked into memory as being the problem, or maybe the 75mhz is too much for your hard disk. Try some different ram, also try setting the pio mode on your hard drive to something lower.
