    Selecting an AT board.

I would like to upgrade my P90 system. I see from the Computer shopper that the selection of AT boards are very limited. I thought I would go with the best AMD processor (Socket 7 right?) and possibly same the ram. I have 8mg Simms. I notice that many boards would require purchase of new sdram?? I need a new video card. I was looking a Diamond PCI card to replace my Diamond ISA 1mg card. I have a mitsubishi 14" VGA monitor that does a great
    job.

It appears I would spend at least $300. Any suggestions for a MB?? I'm wondering if it would be even worth doing.

I'd say it's time to move ahead. Save up for an Abit BX6 v2.0, Slot 1 CPU, SDRAM, ATX case and whatever cards you might need. That will put you in step with the now and ready for tomorrow.

You can do all that for $400 or less.

I like to shop at www.pricewatch.com

People who want to keep their AT case are running out of options. People who want that AND to keep their SIMMS are really running out of options.

You can still wander over to www.tccomputers.com and get a 200MHz MMX processor and board for $149. Frankly I offer this as an option, I don't consider this a great deal. It does have a 1 year warranty. You can also buy the FIC 503 motherboard with a AMD K6 for under $180. Both setups will accept 4 SIMMS. Just keep in mind the FIC board is loaded with jumpers. This makes techo-phobes very nervous, and to some extent it should. The FIC board also has an AGP slot, and they carry a decent video cards for as little as $35. Even at that price they're TONS better than a 1MB ISA card. Trust me, I recall my upgrade.

I don't know how much memory you have but I added 2 8meg EDO sticks to my system, $20 + $6 postage. www.pricewatch.com.

How much can you sell your system? Maybe selling the entire system and using the proceeds to built a new one is the way to go.

    Something to consider.
